It only auto-equips if you hold down the key while picking it up. If you just tap the key, it'll keep your current weapon equipped. This is true except when it isn't. I couldn't count the number of times I had to re-equip my weapon despite just tapping the key to pick-up. "Not all who wander are lost."

I have open slots, I don't want to switch out. I switch to my bare hands yet I can't PICK UP weapons. I have four open slots. Whenever I go to a weapon I can't even interact with them. Is this supposed to be this way or is there some certain way to do it and I'm doing it wrong
